Awareness
education and awareness in zoological settings stand as a shield against indifference and misinformation. By awakening consciousness, each person becomes a defender of biodiversity—ready to protect, restore, and celebrate the splendor of our natural world.
By 2030, with the collaboration of its partners, the work of its experts, and the support of its community, the Zoo de Granby commits to:
Education and awareness are key pillars in accredited zoos. These conservation institutions are actively committed to introducing the public to the wonders of nature, the vital importance of each species, the challenges they face, and how everyone can play a role in their protection and conservation.
Whether you're attending a scheduled presentation by our animal care technicians, speaking with one of our biologists, pausing at an educational display, or witnessing an animal enrichment session, you are directly contributing to our awareness efforts, and becoming, in turn, a driver of change.
Our fun and educational workshops aim to raise awareness among young people of all ages about the importance of biodiversity conservation!
For over thirty years, our naturalist interpreters have been meeting with students at various grade levels to help them discover the extraordinary world of animals.
Thematic workshops also offer the opportunityfor school groups to visit our exceptional facilities and enjoy a guided experience on topics ranging from animal behavior to endangered species.
With more than 6,000 artifacts, over fifty animal ambassadors, and a team of animal experts, these educational workshops are both immersive and captivating!
Accredited zoos are committed to informing visitors about the challenges of conserving endangered species and encouraging them to take action. But this initiative extends far beyond the walls of zoological institutions: local citizens are also called upon to contribute!
Our conservation experts are creating more and more outreach opportunities throughout Québec: hosting talks on locally endangered species, setting up awareness booths at urban festivals, developing ecological guides for landowners, and more. They are making species protection everyone's business!
